India win second Test by 7 wickets
India beat England by seven wickets in the second Test at Trent Bridge on Tuesday to register just their fifth Test victory on English soil.
 UNITED KINGDOM , 31-July-2007  10:20:30 AM
India beat England by seven wickets in the second Test at Trent Bridge on Tuesday to register just their fifth Test victory on English soil.

The winning runs came in form of a bye that reached the ropes. Rahul Dravid on 11 and Sourav Ganguly on two were in the middle after India lost three wickets in the morning session.

With this win, India have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Pacer Zaheer Khan was adjudged Man of the Match for his nine-wicket haul.

Chasing a mere 73 in the second innings, India was 10 for no loss at stumps on day four. The visitors would have hoped to register a 10-wicket win, but Chris Tremlett spoiled the party.

Wasim Jaffer was the first to go. He tried to pull a Tremlett delivery to the fence but top edged it and Kevin Pietersen completed an easy catch. He made 22.

Dinesh Karthik also made 22 before he was caught behind by Matt Prior to give Tremlett his second wicket. The bowler then had Sachin Tendulkar caught by Alaistar Cook.

India's previous four wins in England had come at The Oval in 1971, at Lord's and Hedingley in 1986 and then the Headingley Test in 2002 under Sourav Ganguly's captaincy.

The third Test of the series will be played at The Oval from August 9 to 13 and India will be hoping to win their first Test series in England since 1986
