| With large parts of the capital severely waterlogged, it was a harrowing beginning for early morning commuters in Delhi.
The capital has experienced non-stop heavy rain since last night.
Many commuters are stranded in various parts of the city, as their vehicles are stuck in two to three feet of water.
Among the worst affected are roads where projects like the Metro railway and high capacity bus system are under construction, with rain water collecting in areas which have been dug up and the already narrowed roads flooded.
Traffic snarls
The heavy monsoon showers have also led to traffic snarls at busy traffic intersections like ITO, Minto Road, which is always a pressure point, and the Nizamuddin Railway station area in central Delhi, Ashram Chowk, Dhaula Kuan and Greater Kailash in south Delhi, and the Piragarhi industrial area in West Delhi.
Traffic on the National Highway to Jaipur was also held up, but seems to be improving now.
Traffic had also come practically to a stop on the other side, the Mehrauli-Gurgaon road, where heavy construction is on for the Metro.
Several autos and cars have broken down, making the traffic situation worse.
