| Husband attacks wife with acid |

| In a horrific incident in Mysore, in Karnataka, a woman was allegedly attacked by her husband with acid.
It is believed she was even forced to drink it. Fathima has been admitted to a hospital in the city. The husband has been sent to judicial custody.
Fathima is at the burns ward in K R Hospital in Mysore and is fighting for her life.
Fathima, had reportedly been tortured physically and mentally by her husband for years and it culminated in a vicious attack with acid.
''Ahmed Khan, the accused, had poured acid on his wife, Aina Fathima's face - and there are severe burns, reportedly around 90 per cent of the face. The motive behind was revenge against his wife.
''We have arrested the husband the same night and found out the source of the acid and seized the contents of the said container where we have found sulphuric acid,'' said Balakrishna, DCP, Mysore.
Fathima has three young children and she had returned to her parent's house but was persuaded to return to her marital home.
''My child said please come. He has mixed acid with alcohol and is forcing me to drink it. He sat on her chest and choked her,'' said Zabeen, Fathima's mother.
Brutality towards women is sadly not rare in India, but this case, where a young wife and mother is believed to have been forced to actually drink acid, is one that is particularly shocking.
