| The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has spoken on nuclear deal in Parliament. He said that all commitments made to Parliament on nuke deal have been fulfilled and that the deal benefits both US and India.
Amidst loud slogans he reiterated that India's position has not been compromised and India's nuclear interests have been protected.
PM also informed the House that the right to reprocess nuclear fuel is significant and it does not inhibit or curtail our capabilities.
The PM emphasized that nuclear deal does not endanger India's sovereignty and that conducting nuclear tests in future is our sovereign decision.
The prime minister perhaps didn't leave any stone unturned in defending the deal and interestingly even said that time will judge the significance of what they have done.
Left's response
The Left has said it will formulate its response to the PM's statement in due course but significantly the Left remained silent as the prime minister made his statement in Parliament.
There was uproar in Parliament while the PM made the statement. However, Left members did not join in slogan shouting against nuke deal.
CP(M) leader and Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury has said that the left will meet the PM after his statement in Parliament.
