| When a Maharashtra constable hugged Sanjay Dutt when he came out from jail he was suspended immediately.
While a Deputy Commissioner touched JMM leader Shibu Soren's feet in full public view after he was freed from prison but he remains unpunished.
''In our tribal culture, we show our respect to elders by touching their feet. I was just doing that. Soren is a respectable elder to me,'' said Praveen Toppo, Deputy Commissioner, Bokaro, Jharkhand.
It's a far greater breach of an official position than the Maharashtra constable who was punished for hugging actor Sanjay Dutt in front of Pune jail.
The Maharashtra chief minister initially wanted to put a stay on his deputy's order but now he seems to have had a change of heart.
''No question of action being stopped or allowed, action was taken by the IG as per the regulations of the force, not by the state government. Neither myself, nor R R Patil have anything to do with the action taken,'' said Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister.
An internal inquiry will now look into how guilty the constables are and what punishment they deserve.
Surely, this must be the one time Munnabhai's jadu ki jhappi didn't create the required magic.
