Future tense for Hyderabad twins
Hope for four-year-old conjoined twins Veena and Vani is fast fading away.
 INDIA , 26-October-2007  3:40:1 AM
Hope for four-year-old conjoined twins Veena and Vani is fast fading away.

Born to daily wage labourers in Andhra Pradesh, the twins have spent most of their lives in hospitals. But now, Hyderabad's Niloufer hospital, their latest abode, wants them out.

Niloufer Hospital, which has kept the babies since last April, has asked the parents to take the twins away today. But the father says he needs more time and help as he is still not in a position to take care of the children.

Top doctors of the country, including the ones from AIIMS, say the twins cannot be operated upon in India and surgery abroad is very expensive.

Soon after their birth, the parents had given away the twins to a hospital in Guntur because they did not have the wherewithal to keep them.
