As thousands of tribals, adivasis and displaced people march to Parliament on Monday from the Ram Lila grounds, where they have assembled, the government seems set to buy time by announcing the setting up of a National Land Reforms Council.
The council will supervise the implementation of a new national land reforms policy.
This policy, which was the first demand of the protestors will be worked out later.
Agriculture Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh earlier on Monday morning and finalised the details of the announcement.
Whether the representatives of the protestors accept the government's recipe is another matter.
Meanwhile, Adivasi and landless activists from across the country will reach Parliament to register their protest for land rights on Monday morning.
They have covered a stretch of over 325 kms from Gwalior when they began their walk on October 2.
They are at the Ramlila grounds and expected to leave the area on Monday morning and go via the Ranjit Singh flyover, and Janpath to Jantar Mantar.
As a result, traffic would be affected at the Barakhamba road, the Kasturba Gandhi crossing as well as the Jantar Mantar crossing.
They are expected to meet the Rural Development Minister on Monday.
