It will be fireworks galore during the winter session of Parliament being held soon after Diwali with the government virtually in a fix over the Indo-US nuclear deal.
Issues that will figure in the brief session which commences on November 15 are aplenty with the Opposition training its guns to corner the government on problems faced by farmers including those of minimum support prices for paddy, wheat imports and also skyrocketing prices.
The three-week-long session is also expected to be a stormy one as it is being held ahead of the Gujarat assembly polls where Chief Minister Narendra Modi has landed in a fresh controversy following the Tehelka sting over the post-Godhra violence.
The BJP and the Trinamool Congress are expected to make the maximum noise over the Nandigram issue to embarrass the Left parties and to corner the Congress-led coalition at the Centre supported by the CPI(M) and its allies.
While there has been a sudden lull on the nuclear deal issue with the decision to defer the November 16 meeting of the UPA-Left Committee, the BJP continues to oppose the deal and there is no solace to the government.
The saffron party wants the deal to be renegotiated, a demand already rejected by the Centre as the Third Front is calling for taking the mood of Parliament into account on the issue, a position akin to that of the Left parties.
