Nandigram limps back to normalc
Advani also said that violence in Nandigram should also be taken up in the coming winter session of Parliament.
 INDIA , 13-November-2007  1:19:22 AM
Nandigram in West Bengal is slowly returning to normal, a day after Central forces entered the violence torn block one with five panchayats.

CRPF personnel have now managed to fan out to the most disturbed areas of the region that have virtually been outside the control of both the state government and the Centre.

CRPF personnel carried out overnight raids in several areas in Nandigram following reports of retaliatory attacks by CPM cadres on the anti-SEZ agitators, who had controlled the area for the last 11 months.

There were reports of houses being burnt and looted in at least four villages.

The CRPF have finally managed to set up three camps inside violence torn Nandigram and hopes to establish all five camps today.

Initially, the local police refused to guide the CRPF to the locations where violence was still taking place but after the CRPF DIG spoke to his police counterpart the two forces have swung into action.

Meanwhile, Former deputy prime minister and Leader of the Opposition LK Advani, accompanied by other senior leaders of the NDA, is in Nandigram today for a first hand assessment of the situation there.

Earlier this morning, on ariving at Kolkata airport Advani took the political bickering over Nandigram a pitch higher by saying that the CPM has nuked the farmers of the region.

Advani also said that violence in Nandigram should also be taken up in the coming winter session of Parliament.

No bandh in West Bengal

Political parties in Bengal seem to be taking a breather from agitational politics.

The Trinamool Congress says it will continue with its non-cooperation movement against the state government but will not try to enforce a bandh.

The BJP has withdrawn its 48-hour bandh call after the announcement that former deputy prime minister LK Advani and other senior leaders of the party would visit Nandigram today.
