Task list for Karnataka government
CM B S Yeddiyurappa admits the state has major infrastructure issues but said his government will do all it can to ease the situation.
 INDIA , 17-November-2007  1:10:54 AM
With the new Karnataka government in place now people are waiting to see if unfulfilled promises made by the previous administration might actually be kept.

It has been just a few days since Karnataka's new Chief Minister was sworn in but there is already a lot expected from his especially from the industries, who are hoping that he delivers what his predecessor only managed to promise.

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw CMD of Biocon said, ''All that industry wants are that some serious issues be addressed. In Bangalore today there is a need for connectivity to international airport which is extremely important.''

Going by early signs it seems like this government is serious about getting its act together. There is likely to be a relook at public-private initiatives like the Bangalore Agenda Task Force with representation from the top management of Infy and Wipro among others.

CM B S Yeddiyurappa admits the state has major infrastructure issues but said his government will do all it can to ease the situation.

Yeddiyurappa said, ''Those who want to invest are hesitating nowadays. We are going to give importance to infrastructure. Within 4-5 days I will have a special meeting to improve the system. For example in the heart of Bangalore if you create helipads, the VVIPs can go by helicopter to the airport.''

The biggest roadblock in Bangalore's development so far has been lack of political will something that the new government will have to overcome.
