| Interceptor missile test successful |

| India today successfully conducted its advanced missile defence test.
Indigenously prepared Advanced Air Defence (ADD) missile, capable of destroying incoming hostile ballistic missiles, was fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) off Orissa's east coast.
Two missiles were involved in the exercise. One was used as the target, the other as the interceptor missile. The target missile is a modified version of India's Prithvi ballistic missile.
This co-ordinated exercise was to be taken up at two different launch sites of the Integrated Test Range, at Chandipur-on-sea and Wheelers' Island in the Bay of Bengal.

As a precaution, the Balasore district administration has made arrangements to evacuate all civilians residing within two-km radius of the Chandipur launch complex.(With PTI inputs)
