In a 24-hour long armed face-off in South Kashmir's Kulgam district, two local villagers are still being held hostage inside a mosque by three armed militants.
NDTV has learned that three more hostages have just managed to escape from the militants' clutches.
The Army and the police have surrounded the mosque and are avoiding firing. But the hostages indicate that the militants intend to fight to the finish.
As always it is once again the common person who is bearing the brunt of the terror war.
''My husband was taken in by militants. They are now inside the mosque. Militants have taken them hostage. They have been there since yesterday. They haven't eaten anything. They must be cold. Please save them,'' bewailed the wife of a hostage
