| Four alleged members of underworld don Chhota Shakeel gang were arrested in Mumbai here late this evening by Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
''Acting on a specific tip-off, we arrested the four from Vikhori-Jogeshwari Link Road junction on the Western Express Highway while they were travelling in a car,'' Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Parambir Singh said.
Three pistols and a revolver were seized from the quartet, he said, adding the exact motive behind their presence in the area in the suburbs was being ascertained.
Two of them hail from Pune, one is from the city and the fourth one from Madhya Pradesh, he said.
''They were in touch with Shakeel aide Faheem Machmach, said to be based overseas, and we are further probing their links,'' ATS chief K P Raghuvanshi said.
The four Ganesh Arun Pote, Mukim Ahmed Sheikh, Govind Phadtre and Ajit Gadekar have been booked under the Arms Act, he said.
They will be prdouced before a court on Wednesday for police remand.
