Snowfall in high reaches and rain in Shimla and other lower areas intensified cold conditions in Himachal Pradesh.

Parts of Himachal Pradesh and high-altitude areas of Kashmir Valley including the famous Ski resort of Gulmarg received heavy snowfall on Tuesday even as two more persons died due to cold conditions.
Snowfall in the Kashmir Valley brought cheers on the faces of officials of the tourism department which had released its calendar of sporting activities including the 5th National Winter Games in Gulmarg and an international skiing race in the next couple of months.
Snow mixed with rains also lashed rest of the Valley. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed following heavy snowfall and landslides in Ramban-Banihal section, leaving over 200 vehicles stranded.

Meanwhile, people in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana continued to get some respite from cold conditions as minimum temperatures rose.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was 9.6 degrees Celsius and the weatherman has predicted that on Wednesday minimum will shoot up to 12 degrees.
Sriganganagar was the the coldest place in Rajasthan, recording a minimum of 8.8 degrees.
In Uttar Pradesh, two persons died in Hamirpur and Kaushambi districts due to the chill, pushing the statewide death count to 53 this season.
Sultanpur was the coldest place in Uttar Pradesh state with a minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees. Capital Lucknow recorded a low of 8.6 degrees.
