| The fire at the Nandgram building in Kolkata's Burrabaazar area has not been put out four days after it broke out on Saturday morning.
More than 2,500 shops, many of them belonging to the Marwari community have been destroyed. Goods worth crores of rupees has have gone up in flames in the country's biggest wholesale market.
A businessman died of a heart attack after seeing his life's earnings being wiped out.
Fireman are now tackling the fire on the 12th floor of the 13-storied building.
Industrialist B K Birla visited the fire site on Tuesday and has reportedly pledged to contribute 2 crore rupees for the affected traders.
