| There's help at hand on the notorious Bihar roads.
Highways will have constant police patrolling passing through Muzaffarpur, a first for Bihar which has been there in other northern states for a while.
''In our highway patrol vehicles, we provide accident relief services, we provide vehicle breakdown services, we cater to traffic jams when they do happen. And like we always do, we provide crime patrolling,'' said Ratn Sanjay, SP, Muzaffarpur.
''The vehicle had an accident at two o'clock in the night. I called the highway mobile. A crane and mechanic came. We had no problem. We are very happy with the highway patrol,'' said Ram Naresh Thakur, Transporter.
For now, patrol cars will crisscross four of the six highways here. It will deter robberies on these roads, which have been on the rise.
Till recently, travelling on Bihar roads was sickening. Law and order was sick but now this glimpse of the so far dormant, humane face of the state police will make one feel safer travelling on the national highways there.
