| UP MP Atiq Ahmed held for murder |
| Delhi police have arrested Atiq Ahmed to help UP Police.

| Atiq Ahmed, the Uttar Pradesh MP wanted in a case of murder was arrested early on Friday in New Delhi.
The expelled Samajwadi Party MP had been on the run for more than six months. He has been named in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party legislator Raju Pal, who was shot dead in 2006.
Ahmed has denied his involvement in Raju Pal's murder. According to the police, 13 criminal cases are pending against Atiq Ahmed and his brother. Ahmed was expelled by the Samajwadi party earlier this month.
UP chief minister Mayawati had accused Ahmed of plotting to kill her. Speaking to NDTV in January this year, Ahmed said he feared for his life.
Delhi police have arrested Atiq Ahmed to help UP Police.
Atiq will be handed over to UP police at Tis Hazari court on Friday afternoon. This is Delhi Police's third big arrest by the Special Cell.
Last week, Brajesh Singh was arrested and before that Fazlu.
Congress reacts
The Congress, who Mayawati had accused of sheltering Atiq Ahmed today said that it was now clear that the party was not protecting him
''When ever someone gets arrested, he remains so. If somebody has been found guilty by the police and lodged a police case then the individual would be called a criminal,'' said Shri Prakash Jaiswal, Minister of State for Home.
Family welcomes arrest
The family of Raju Pal, the man who Atiq Ahmed is accused of killing has welcomed his arrest.
''Atiq got my son killed in broad daylight. It is good that he has been caught. It seems that we will get justice now but we are very scared, Atiq can get us murdered even from the jail,'' said Rani Pal, Raju Pal's mother.
