There are serious concerns over BJP leader LK Advani's security, who is planning to take out a series of rallies nationwide.
The government has informed him that there is a serious security threat to him.
The development may impact his nationwide campaign.
National Security Advisor MK Narayanan met Advani to discuss his security and warned him to the effect that there was a serious security threat to him and two other leaders.
However, despite the threat perception Advani will go ahead with his sankalp yatra, beginning with a rally at Jabalpur on Wednesday.
The party meanwhile has cancelled all rallies, which were to follow immediately after, including one at Rampur on February 10. BJP will highlight terror and the threat to political leaders in its campaign.
Sources claim that Advani's security has been consequently increased, but not upgraded.
Apart from LK Advani, two other leaders perceived to be under increased threat are Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
In Azad's case the threat perception increased when it was discovered that a security man on his personal detail was leaking information.
