AIADMK MLA creates flutter
S.Ve. Shekher addressing the media at the entrance of the Assembly hall in Chennai
 INDIA , 14-February-2008  0:12:31 AM
S.Ve. Shekher, All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA, representing the Mylapore constituency, on Wednesday created a flutter at the Assembly Secretariat, where he rebuked the party leadership for not sending him an invitation for the general council meeting.

Mr. Shekher’s visit to the Secretariat, which took place around 10-30 am, even as the general council was in session at a marriage hall in Vanagaram near here, surprised AIADMK functionaries. Eventually, the MLA made it to the general council meeting. When he reached the venue of the meeting, the general council was about to conclude its deliberations. [The meeting was over by about 1 p.m.]. At the Secretariat, Mr. Shekher told reporters that he did not receive the invitation even after taking the matter to those in charge of the party headquarters. “I understand that she [AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa] was also informed. Still, I have not received the invitation.”

Even as he was about to enter the Speaker’s chamber, party representatives pleaded with him and wanted him to attend the general council meeting. They told him that Ms. Jayalalithaa wanted to meet him. The MLA said that he came to meet the Assembly Secretary only to apply for a fancy number for his new car. Later, Mr. Shekher told The Hindu that during his meeting with Ms. Jayalalithaa, he told her that he did not receive the invitation for the meeting. This was why he did not come earlier. “I told her that I am what I was at the time of joining the party and I would be 100 per cent loyal to her.”
