PM for inflation at 'acceptable
He also said he was confident of maintaining a nine per cent growth in 2008.
 INDIA , 15-February-2008  1:37:59 AM
For those worried about the impact of the fuel price hike on their household budgets, there was some reassurance from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday that inflation will be kept in check.

Speaking at an annual meeting of the country's top business leaders the PM described inflation as an iniquitous tax hurting the poor and said that inflation will be kept at 'acceptable levels'.

He also said he was confident of maintaining a nine per cent growth in 2008.

Speaking on the impact of recession fears in the US and its global impact, the prime minister said India couldn't be completely insulated from the global meltdown.
