| Airport Authority of India Employees Union strike, slated for Tuesday has been deferred.
The Left-backed AAI Employees Union had called for a relay strike in order to protest the closure of Hyderabad's existing Begumpet Airport and Bangalore's current Hal Airport.
These are to be closed once the new privately run airports become functional this year.
While the GMR airport in Hyderabad opens on March 16, the one in Bangalore is slated to open a little later.
''Airports in Hyderabad and Bangalore have been closed down. This decision is wrong because the government is closing government run airports to facilitate private companies,'' said M K Pandhey, Leader, CPI(M).
