The Railway Budget on Tuesday evoked apparent differences within the CPI(M) in West Bengal.
State party secretary Biman Bose said one should not be too critical of it, even as party MPs from the state joined opposition members in walking out of the Lok Sabha to protect the state's 'neglect'.
''One cannot be too critical of this year's rail budget as there are some good features in it as concessions have been given to girl students and aged women,'' he said.
''But it would have been better if there were some more projects for West Bengal as railway connectivity need to be increased,'' he said in a statement.
Leader of the CPI(M) parliamentary party in Lok Sabha and chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on Railways Basudeb Acharya, however, said the railway budget was 'disappointing for West Bengal'.
He said that considering the industrialisation drives undertaken by the Left Front government, the budget would hardly benefit the state.
''The pending railway projects in West Bengal have also not been implemented,'' Acharya said.
